I want people to plug into society the way they plug into hockey
The recent Canada USA Olympic hockey match up was entertaining to many - but for some, as the US scored the winning goal, their spirit seemed to have rose up and left their bodies. Such is the fervent fandom where hockey is concerned. The fans invest so much of themselves into the game, as if they were playing themselves. They are empathetic, sympathetic and energetic.
Here is the truth: If people cared as much about their communities, their neighbours and their fellow men as much as they did about that game the world might be a better place. Sure it’s sports, its life : there are winners and losers. But hockey is a mutually exclusive. They could have won, and almost did but it’s just a game folks. Go home and make a positive difference for we are all players.
