The laws of elections require that you must be a canadian ctizen to vote in the municipal election.
Should you vote even if you are able? No not unless you are informed of the issues. Then you are a citizen and not merely a resident.
Remarkably, in Rideau Rockcliffe, home of the prime minister of Canada, and Governor General, only 40% of eligible voters actually vote, sometimes fewer.
It is atrocious civic performance but not because I have not encouraged people to get involved at every opportunity.
Incumbents tend to like things just the way they are. Their livelihood depends on it. Mine does not.
