This year is an election year in Ottawa. Will you actually vote?
Will you hold your currently elected officials to account?
You may think they are friends, fine people, good community members - that's fine but they must be held accountable for their decisions in a functioning democracy.
It's not personal, it is necessary.
Hold the whole lot of them to account if you cannot pick just one but things must change!

ReplyDelete120 mm of rain in 4 hours, 1800 to 2000 homes flooded, many which had never experienced basement flooding over periods of longstanding, some over 30 years.

Anybody that has even cleaned out a flooded basement knows that backup presventers sump pits, and shelving that keeps items above the flow are critical.
As for the city, how many civil engineers and urban planners will it take? Would bilingualism or equity initiatives have helped?
It's time to get serious about emergency preparedness.
