If you want a ward that keeps improving instead of managing expectations, support the conditions that make improvement necessary. Inform yourselves. Ask the hard questions. And when the time comes, vote for the approach that treats this place like a project worth finishing properly.
Something needs to be done. Let’s make sure it actually gets done.

One example I have observed is the public engagement process for park upgrades in Ward 11. Too often, residents are asked for feedback through a survey or consultation, but there is little follow-up explaining what was heard, what changes were made based on community input, or why certain decisions were ultimately taken.
ReplyDeleteI believe projects like these should move beyond the “consult” level of the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation toward involve, collaborate, and empower, with clear “What We Heard” reports shared through councillor newsletters, social media, and if applicable public meetings. Residents should be able to see how their feedback shaped the final outcome and feel that participation in the process was meaningful and transparent.
